JAWKU
01The app
Your phone is the finish line
The app offers three ways to test: Speed, Agility, and Build-a-Drill. Athletes pick a distance and a start type, and their phone becomes the finish line.
02Architecture
Mapping the whole app first
Before any visual design, I mapped the full app in annotated wireframes: onboarding, sensor pairing, the four main tabs, running a drill, and the Build-a-Drill flow.
03Onboarding
Getting athletes in quickly
Athletes sign up with email or Facebook, then can add details like date of birth, height, weight, and sport, or skip ahead.
04Sensor pairing
Pairing the JAWKU Speed
Pairing walks through searching for, finding, and naming the sensor, with a clear path to search again when no sensor is found.
05Connection status
Always know if the sensor is connected
The sensor’s connection lives at the top of the app. Pulling it down shows which sensor is connected, the app returns to searching if the sensor drops, and firmware updates are announced in-app.
06Running a drill
Setting up the photo finish
Before a run, a short walkthrough shows how to line the phone up with the finish so the front camera can stop the clock. Results show run time to the hundredth of a second and reaction time to the thousandth.
07Splits
Every split, not just the total
Longer drills break into splits. Athletes can view the full run or select any single split and compare it against their best.
08Track
Progress over time
Track lists each drill with its best time, and trends can be viewed by day, week, or month. Beating a record triggers a New Record animation.
09Build-a-Drill
Athletes design their own drills
Athletes build a drill by choosing a distance, the number of splits, and a start type (movement or an audible three-beep start), then naming it. Saved drills can be duplicated or deleted.
10My JAWKU
Managing the sensor and profile
My JAWKU is where athletes pair or change their sensor, edit personal details, and install firmware updates.
11Outcome
Shipped on iOS and Android
The JAWKU app launched on both iOS and Android.
