Overview

iNEGU, from the Jessie Rees Foundation’s Never Ever Give Up (NEGU) movement, delivers “boosts” of hope: daily video messages of encouragement from an all-star family of athletes and celebrities to courageous kids and their families.

I was responsible for the UI/UX design, from the app’s architecture and annotated wireframes through the final mobile UI, icons, and App Store screenshots.

Hope, delivered daily

Families get daily boosts from the all-star family, can search for boosts to share, keep a family profile, and request a prayer or find family resources when they need extra help.

02Architecture

Mapping every flow first

Annotated wireframes mapped the full app before visual design: registration, the four tab bar sections, rating and thank-you flows, permissions, push notifications, and empty and pending-account states.

03Onboarding

Built for families, not just users

Registration is centered on the family: a guardian creates the account, adds their courageous kid’s details so content can arrive when they need it most, and personalizes with a family photo.

04Personalization

Choosing the encouragement

Families pick the type of encouragement they want, boosts of encouragement or boosts of prayer, and which leagues they’d love to hear from. Because the app serves families in a sensitive situation, accounts are verified by a customer service representative before videos unlock.

Finding the right boost

The video feed tags each boost by category, and search covers results and no-result states.

06Feedback

Rating a video and saying thanks

After a video, families rate how it made them feel, leave a comment, and can record a thank-you video for the all-star who sent it, with clear upload progress and confirmation.

07Family profile

All the family’s info in one place

The family profile holds the courageous kid, super sibs, hospital, and treatment status, with quick access to Prayer & Support and family resources. Settings let families pause or close their account.

08Icons

A custom icon set

Video category tags, a three-level video rating, and on/off tab bar icons were designed to match the app’s playful, hopeful illustration style.

09Web admin

Managing the content behind the app

A web dashboard gives the team tools to manage videos, publishing schedules, users, all-star suggestions, reports, and thank-you videos.

10Outcome

Shipped on iOS and Android

iNEGU launched on both iOS and Android.
