Boxhead 3D
01The game
Are you prepared for the Boxpocalypse?
A free-to-play action game with Story, Survival, and Last Stand modes. Players fight off waves of baddies, collect coins from kills and boxes, and spend them on new characters, stages, and weapons.
02Environments
Built, textured, and placed in Unity
I created the game’s environments, including city streets, a lava field, a forest clearing, and a highway, handling the 3D modeling, texturing, and everything needed to bring them into the game in Unity.
03Gameplay
Endless hordes, bigger guns
Purple boxes drop more powerful weapons, and each weapon levels up as you use it. The design document also specified a modern twin-stick control scheme alongside the classic controls.
04UI/UX
A gritty, blood-splattered interface
Menus carry the game’s grungy, comic-violent tone, from stage select and character select (with each character’s weapon loadout and ability) to the coin store.
05HUD & tutorial
Readable in the chaos
The HUD keeps score, combo multiplier, coins, and weapon level in view, and a one-screen tutorial teaches the twin-stick controls: move with the left stick, fire with the right.
06Characters & voices
Action heroes, one voice pack at a time
Each blocky character, like the series hero John Bambo, comes with its own voice pack. I voiced some of the characters.
07Flow
Every screen mapped
A storyboard maps the full screen flow, from splash and main menu through stage and character selection, gameplay, and results.
08Game design document
The rules of the Boxpocalypse
The GDD covers game modes, control schemes, characters and abilities, enemies, stages, weapons and upgrades, and the monetization strategy, from coin pricing to character and stage unlocks.
09Outcome
